Josh took a couple of extra days off over the New Years holiday and we had some great family time. We mostly hung out around the house, catching whatever football games we could get on the satellite, and of course swimming! One day, we did venture out and went to Penang Hill. Penang Hill is one of the top tourist spots - there is a train that takes you to the top of the hill where you get a fantastic view of Penang. This was our third attempt to go on this little train ride. Our first attempt failed due to inability to find the train station. The second time, we were able to find the train station but there were about 10-12 tour buses of people in line ahead of us.
Josh was not exactly excited about the train ride due to his experience on his last visit to Penang. The train was open air at the time and took about 15-20 minutes to get to the top. The train was upgraded in 2010, however, and is now air conditioned and reaches the top in less than 5 minutes. It turned out to be a fun little outing. The temperature was cooler at the top of the hill and the view did not disappoint. The boys enjoyed the ride and there was a playground at the top for them to burn off some energy.
We are all starting to get very excited about going home to Oregon. We have a couple of trips planned for our last few weeks here but mostly we are in countdown mode until we can see our friends and family again, and be in the comforts of our home sweet home!
